Southington's Annual Apple Festival
October 4 & 5, 2008
Our booth was located in the lower level of the Southington Congregational Church, located across the street from the town green. A star quilt, handmade by a Lakota woman from the reservation, was raffled off as well as an American Girl doll, Kaya. Proceeds from the American Girl doll raffle provided library books for pre-school children ages 3 to 5 years old who attend Little Wound School. Proceeds from the star quilt raffle provided a scholarship to a full-time enrolled Lakota Sioux student attending Oglala Lakota College. Both schools are located in Kyle on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota.
